Art Teaching
My approach to teaching is deeply rooted in creating a supportive and collaborative environment where each student feels comfortable expressing their creativity. I specialise in working with small groups, which allows me to provide personalised instruction tailored to each individual's skill level and artistic goals. This personalised attention not only helps students progress at their own pace but also fosters a sense of community within the group, where learners are encouraged to share ideas, techniques, and inspiration.
I focus on both foundational drawing and painting techniques as well as nurturing each student’s unique creative voice. My lessons are designed to be interactive and hands-on, with a balance of technical instruction and creative exploration. I strive to create an atmosphere where students feel inspired to push their boundaries and take creative risks, knowing that they have my full support and guidance.
In BIFE (Bray institute of further Education) I teach a hobby course in Drawing and Painting and Beginner's oil painting. I have also been doing some relief teaching in BIFE QQI Level 5 Award in Creative Craft where I teach painting and combined materials.
I teach a small group in my home where my students choose their own medium and subject and I guide them in their practice. I teach drawing and painting skills to a group in the Signal Art Centre in Bray and I teach various workshops in Dublin and Wicklow art groups. I am currently putting together a book to teach beginners how to paint in oils.
My teaching usually begins with a demonstration drawing or painting and then individual guidance for students.
I have a QQI level 6 Train the Trainer qualification and I am Garda vetted
